MISSION STATEMENT
Bucks County enjoys a lengthy tradition of the arts that stretches back to the Colonial times and it is still vigorous today. The epicenter of this tradition in the town of New Hope, which has long been a destination for those seeking the cultural amenities and spirit of enlightened diversity for which the community is nationally known. While the fine and performing arts are prevalent in many forms throughout the area, New Hope Celebrates (NHC)—an incorporated non-profit gay and lesbian marketing organization—will address the need for a dedicated annual film festival. The chief aim of the festival is to invite independent regional, national, and student filmmakers, with a primary, but not exclusive GLBT slant to submit their work to a juried process carried out by NHC. “Slant” is defined as content having at least one GLBT featured character. The film festival will honor diversity and encourage aspiring filmmakers by nurturing the cinematic art form in the region. Community outreach will be served by placing the film series in various cultural and educational institutions in and around the New Hope area. Filmmakers will lead forum discussion pre and post viewing, as another part of the educational initiatives that are among the aims of the NHC Film festival committee.
